Accessibility Statement

Built so everyone can shop for their walls comfortably.

Lunaire Works wants our website to work for as many people as possible — including customers who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, rely on screen magnification, or shop with a cognitive or motor condition. This page explains what we've done, what's still a work in progress, and exactly how to reach us if something on our site isn't working for you.

Last updated & effective: 25 June 2026

Our commitment

We design and build our own product pages and store content, which means we have direct control over the things that matter most for accessibility: clear headings, readable text, sensible colour contrast, and pages that work whether you're using a mouse, a keyboard, or a screen reader. Where we rely on Shopify's own checkout and account system, or on third‑party apps such as live chat, we choose providers that take accessibility seriously, and we raise issues with them directly when we find one.

Standards we aim to meet

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as our internal benchmark — the standard most accessibility professionals treat as good evidence of reasonable practice. WCAG 2.1 AA isn't a legal requirement for a private retailer like Lunaire Works in the same way it is for public sector websites, but we apply it anyway because it's the clearest, most widely tested standard available, and because the Equality Act 2010 already requires us to make reasonable adjustments for disabled customers — see "Your rights under UK law" below.

Meeting WCAG 2.1 AA in full is ongoing work, not a one‑off project, and we don't claim to have finished it. This statement will be updated as we make further changes.

What we've done so far

  • Pages are built with proper heading levels (H1, H2, H3) so screen reader users can jump between sections instead of reading everything top to bottom.
  • Text and background colours are chosen for strong contrast — we deliberately avoid pale, washed‑out greys for anything you need to read.
  • Buttons and links are sized to be tapped accurately on a touchscreen, and show a visible outline when reached by keyboard (try pressing Tab on this page).
  • Pages we build respect your device's "reduce motion" setting — if you've turned that on, our animations switch off automatically.
  • Product photos include descriptive alt text wherever we control the image, and we're steadily working through older listings to bring them up to the same standard.
  • Page text can be resized using your browser's zoom or text‑size controls without breaking the layout.

Known limitations

We'd rather tell you what isn't perfect yet than pretend it doesn't exist.

  • Some areas of the site — checkout, account pages, and certain third‑party apps such as live chat or payment widgets — are built and maintained by Shopify or other providers rather than by us directly. We can report issues to them but can't always fix them ourselves.
  • A small number of older product images may not yet have complete descriptive alt text. If you come across one, please tell us using the contact details below and we'll fix it.

Using our website with assistive technology

Screen readers & keyboard

The pages we build are designed to work with common screen readers (such as NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver) and can be navigated using a keyboard alone — Tab and Shift+Tab to move between links and controls, Enter to activate them, and arrow keys within menus and forms.

Zoom, text size & motion

Our pages are built to work with your browser's zoom and text‑resizing controls without the layout breaking. If your device has "reduce motion" turned on, animations and transitions on pages we build are switched off automatically.

Accessible ways to shop with us

If any part of our website is difficult for you to use, you don't have to struggle through it alone. Our small UK team can:

  • Read out measurements or installation steps if you'd rather not rely on the screen.
  • Take an order over the phone or by email if checkout itself is the barrier.
  • Provide order confirmations in a different format on request.
  • Feedback & reporting a problem

We don't expect to get everything right first time, and accessibility is something we'll keep improving rather than declare finished. If you hit a barrier anywhere on lunaireworks.com — a missing label, a colour combination that's hard to read, a control that doesn't respond to your keyboard or screen reader — please tell us. Include the page you were on and what happened, and we'll look into it.

    Your rights under UK law

As a UK‑based retailer, we have duties under the Equality Act 2010 to avoid discriminating against disabled customers and to make reasonable adjustments where a feature of our service puts a disabled customer at a substantial disadvantage compared with a non‑disabled customer. In practice, that's exactly what the accessible contact routes above are for.

The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 — the regulation that legally mandates WCAG 2.1 AA compliance with formal enforcement — applies to public sector organisations, not private retailers like Lunaire Works. We hold ourselves to the same WCAG 2.1 AA benchmark voluntarily, because it's good practice and because it supports the Equality Act obligations described above.
