How Lunaire Works uses cookies — and what that means for you.
This Cookie Policy explains exactly which cookies are placed on your device when you visit lunaireworks.com, why each one exists, how long it lasts, and how you can control or remove them at any time. We keep it plain and specific — no generic boilerplate.
Last updated & effective: 25 June 2026
What is a cookie?
A brief, straightforward explanation before we go into the detail.
The technical side
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device (computer, phone or tablet) when you visit it. The file is stored by your browser and sent back to the same website on your next visit. Cookies cannot run programmes, carry viruses, or access other files on your device.
There are also similar technologies called web beacons (tiny transparent images) and local storage, which work in a comparable way to cookies. Where we use these, this policy covers them too.
Why we use them at Lunaire Works
When you visit lunaireworks.com, cookies help us do things like remembering the panels you have added to your cart, keeping your session active while you browse our ranges, and understanding how many people are visiting our product pages so we can improve them. Some cookies are placed by us; others are placed by third-party services we rely on to run our store, such as our payment processor.
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles about you or to sell your data to any third party.
Your consent and your rights
We ask for your agreement before we place any cookie that is not strictly essential to running our website.
When you first visit lunaireworks.com, our cookie consent banner gives you a clear choice: accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or adjust your preferences by cookie category. Strictly necessary cookies are placed automatically because the website cannot function without them; all other categories require your active consent before any cookie is set.
Your consent choices are recorded and respected throughout your visit. You can change your mind and withdraw consent at any time — see the Managing Your Cookie Preferences section below for instructions.
Right to be informed
You have the right to know what cookies are placed on your device, who places them, and why — which is exactly what this page sets out in full.
Right to withdraw consent
You can withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time by adjusting your browser settings or using our cookie preference tool. Withdrawing consent will not affect any shopping you have already done.
Right of access & deletion
Where cookie data constitutes personal data under UK GDPR, you have the right to request access to or deletion of that data. Contact us at info@lunaireworks.com to exercise these rights.
Cookie categories at a glance
We group the cookies used on lunaireworks.com into four categories based on their purpose and whether your consent is required under PECR and UK GDPR.
Strictly Necessary
Always activeThese cookies are essential for our website to work. Without them, your shopping cart would not function, you could not complete checkout, and secure areas of the website would not be accessible. No consent is required under PECR for strictly necessary cookies.
Functional
Consent requiredFunctional cookies remember choices you make on our website — for example, recalling that you previously dismissed a notice — so that we can provide a more convenient experience on return visits. These require your consent.
Analytics & Performance
Consent requiredThese cookies help us understand how visitors use our website — which product pages get the most visits, where people leave the checkout, and how they navigate between our panel ranges. The data is aggregated and used only to improve our site. These require your consent.
Marketing & Advertising
Opt-in onlyMarketing cookies allow third-party advertising platforms to show you relevant adverts for our wall panelling products after you have visited our website. These are strictly opt-in and will only be placed if you give your explicit consent. You may opt in or out at any time.
Strictly necessary cookies
Always active — no consent requiredThese cookies are placed automatically when you visit lunaireworks.com because our Shopify-powered store cannot operate without them. They are not used for any marketing or analytics purpose, and no consent is required under Regulation 6 of PECR because their sole purpose is to enable the transmission of a communication or to provide a service explicitly requested by you.
| Cookie Name | Set By | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| _session_id | Shopify | Session (closed when browser closes) | Maintains your active session while you browse and shop on lunaireworks.com. Without this cookie, you cannot browse from page to page or proceed to checkout. |
| cart | Shopify | 14 days | Stores the unique identifier for your shopping cart so that any wall panelling products you add are retained between pages and if you leave and return to the site within the cookie lifetime. |
| _secure_session_id | Shopify | Session | A secure, encrypted version of your session identifier used during the checkout process. Required to keep your checkout session active and secure while you complete payment. |
| secure_customer_sig | Shopify | 20 years | Used to verify that you are logged in to a customer account on lunaireworks.com. Only present if you have created and are signed in to an account. |
| storefront_digest | Shopify | Session | Used for password-protected areas of the website (for example, during pre-launch or maintenance periods). Not active on public pages. |
| _ab | Shopify | 1 year | A Shopify platform cookie used to determine whether a visitor is accessing the site through a checkout A/B test. This is a Shopify infrastructure cookie and does not collect personal information about your browsing behaviour. |
| keep_alive | Shopify | 20 years | Maintains the association between your browser and your Shopify account identity so that your account preferences are preserved between visits. |
Functional cookies
Consent requiredFunctional cookies enhance your experience on lunaireworks.com by remembering your preferences and choices. Without them, the website still works — you simply will not benefit from these conveniences on return visits. These cookies are placed only if you give your consent via our cookie banner.
| Cookie Name | Set By | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| _shopify_m | Shopify | 1 year | Records whether you have seen and interacted with our cookie consent banner. This allows us to respect your stated preferences on return visits without asking again unnecessarily. |
| _shopify_tm | Shopify | 30 minutes | A temporary cookie that supports the consistent application of your cookie consent preferences during your active browsing session. |
| _shopify_fs | Shopify | Session | Identifies whether the current visit is your first visit to lunaireworks.com. This helps us present relevant introductory information appropriately. |
Analytics & performance cookies
Consent requiredAnalytics cookies help us understand how visitors use lunaireworks.com. For example, they tell us which panel ranges attract the most interest, how visitors navigate between our living room, bedroom, and staircase collections, and at which point in the checkout process people encounter difficulties. All analytical data is used exclusively to improve the website and our service — it is never used to build advertising profiles or sold to any third party.
| Cookie Name | Set By | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| _shopify_y | Shopify | 1 year | Shopify's visitor-level analytics identifier. Assigns a unique anonymous ID to each visitor so that Shopify can distinguish between new and returning visitors across sessions. The ID is pseudonymous and not directly linked to your name or contact details. |
| _shopify_s | Shopify | 30 minutes | Shopify's session-level analytics identifier. Records the pages you visit within a single session, so that Shopify's dashboard can show us metrics like pages-per-session and time on site for lunaireworks.com. |
| _shopify_sa_t | Shopify | 30 minutes | Shopify sales attribution token. Records which marketing source or link (for example, a search result or direct URL) directed you to lunaireworks.com, so we can understand which sources bring visitors to our wall panelling store. |
| _shopify_sa_p | Shopify | 30 minutes | Shopify sales attribution page path. Works alongside _shopify_sa_t to record the first landing page of your session on lunaireworks.com, helping us understand which product pages or collections attract new visits. |
| _ga | Google Analytics | 2 years | Google Analytics visitor identifier. Assigns an anonymous unique ID to each browser so that Google Analytics can distinguish between unique visitors and returning visitors on lunaireworks.com. No personal details (name, email or address) are linked to this ID. |
| _gid | Google Analytics | 24 hours | Google Analytics session identifier. Used alongside _ga to distinguish individual sessions within the same visitor ID, enabling session-based metrics (such as pages viewed per visit) to be accurately calculated. |
| _gat_gtag_* | Google Analytics | 1 minute | Google Analytics request throttle cookie. Limits the number of analytics requests sent during a single page view to prevent excessive data being transmitted. The suffix after _gat_gtag_ corresponds to our Google Analytics measurement ID. |
Marketing & advertising cookies
Opt-in only — explicit consent requiredMarketing and advertising cookies are used by third-party advertising platforms to track your visits to lunaireworks.com and show you relevant adverts for our wall panelling products on other websites and platforms you visit afterwards. These cookies are only placed on your device if you specifically opt in via our cookie consent banner. If you do not opt in, none of these cookies will be set.
We have listed the platforms whose cookies may be present if you opt in below. Whether any specific platform's cookies are active at any given time will depend on which advertising tools are enabled on our store. We will update this section if new advertising platforms are added.
| Cookie Name | Set By | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| _fbp | Meta (Facebook/Instagram) | 90 days | Placed by the Meta Pixel if enabled. Identifies your browser and records that you visited lunaireworks.com, so that Meta's advertising platforms can show you relevant Lunaire Works adverts on Facebook, Instagram, and the Meta Audience Network. Meta processes this data under its own Privacy Policy at facebook.com/privacy. |
| _fbc | Meta (Facebook/Instagram) | 90 days | Stores the click identifier when you arrive at lunaireworks.com via a Meta advertisement, so that the effectiveness of that advert can be measured. Only placed if you click a Meta ad before visiting our website and then consent to marketing cookies. |
| IDE | Google (DoubleClick) | 13 months | Used by Google's advertising infrastructure to record and measure the effectiveness of advertisements and to show you relevant Lunaire Works ads across Google's display and search advertising network. Data is handled under Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy. |
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | 90 days | Google Ads conversion linker cookie. Records whether a visit to lunaireworks.com was the result of clicking a Google Ad, enabling us to measure advertising conversions (for example, a purchase of wall panelling panels) attributed to our advertising spend. |
Third-party services & data processors
A clear list of the third-party providers whose technologies operate on lunaireworks.com, what they do, and where you can read their own privacy commitments.
Shopify Inc.
Our online store, checkout, and payment processing are all hosted and operated by Shopify Inc. As the platform provider, Shopify places cookies on our website as a core part of the service. Shopify is certified to PCI DSS Level 1 and processes payment data in compliance with industry standards. Shopify's processing of data is governed by its own privacy policy, available at shopify.com/legal/privacy.
Shopify's servers are located in the United States and in data centres globally. We have in place a Data Processing Addendum with Shopify that governs the transfer of personal data outside the UK in accordance with UK GDPR requirements.
Google LLC
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with lunaireworks.com. Google LLC is headquartered in the United States, and analytics data is processed on Google's servers. We have configured our Google Analytics account with IP anonymisation and shortened data retention periods to minimise any privacy impact. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites you visit by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd.
If you have consented to marketing cookies, Meta's Pixel may be active on lunaireworks.com. The Meta Pixel is provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. (Merrion Road, Dublin, Ireland) and is used to measure advertising effectiveness and to enable relevant advertising on Facebook and Instagram. Meta's privacy policy is available at facebook.com/privacy. You can manage your Meta advertising preferences at facebook.com/ads/preferences.
We only activate Meta's Pixel if you have given your explicit consent to marketing cookies. If you have not consented, no Meta Pixel cookies will be set.
Google Fonts
Our website uses Google Fonts to display the typefaces used in our design (Sora and Inter). When your browser loads a page on lunaireworks.com, it may request font files directly from Google's servers at fonts.googleapis.com. This request includes your browser's IP address. Google Fonts does not set cookies in connection with font requests, and according to Google's own documentation, IP addresses collected via font requests are not used to track users. You can review Google's Fonts privacy statement at developers.google.com/fonts/faq/privacy.
Managing your cookie preferences
You have several ways to control which cookies are placed on your device. Here is how each option works in practice.
Via our cookie banner
When you first visit lunaireworks.com, a cookie consent banner appears at the bottom of your screen. You can use this banner to accept all cookie categories, reject all non-essential cookies, or choose your preferences for functional, analytics, and marketing cookies individually.
To access your preferences again after your initial choice — for example, to change your mind — you can reopen the consent banner by clearing our consent cookie from your browser (see browser settings below). We are working to add a persistent cookie preferences link to our website footer.
Via your browser settings
Every major browser allows you to view, delete, block, or restrict cookies directly through its settings menu. You can also set your browser to alert you before any cookie is placed. Below are direct links to cookie management instructions for the most common browsers used by our UK customers:
Step-by-step: how to opt out of specific third-party tools
Install the free Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on from tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Once installed, this add-on prevents Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits to any website, including lunaireworks.com, regardless of your cookie consent settings on any site.
Visit facebook.com/ads/preferences and adjust your ad settings if you have a Facebook or Instagram account. Alternatively, visit youronlinechoices.eu or optout.networkadvertising.org to manage interest-based advertising from multiple providers in one place.
The Your Online Choices tool at youronlinechoices.eu (operated by the Internet Advertising Bureau Europe) lets you opt out of interest-based advertising from over 90 advertising networks that participate in the self-regulatory framework, including those that may serve adverts related to lunaireworks.com.
If you have questions about specific cookies on our website, or wish to exercise your data rights in relation to cookie-derived personal data, please contact us at info@lunaireworks.com or call us on +44 33 0043 9923 during business hours. We aim to respond to all privacy enquiries within 5 working days.
Cookies & UK law
The specific UK legislation and regulatory guidance that governs how we use cookies on lunaireworks.com.
Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR)
PECR is the primary UK law governing cookie use. It requires us to tell you what cookies we place on your device, to explain their purpose clearly, and to obtain your consent before placing any cookie that is not strictly necessary. Consent must be freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous. We comply with PECR by presenting our cookie consent banner on your first visit and by maintaining this policy.
UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) & Data Protection Act 2018
Where cookies collect or process personal data (such as an IP address or a unique identifier that can be linked to an individual), the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply. We process cookie-related personal data on the lawful basis of consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR) for non-essential cookies, and on the basis of legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) for strictly necessary cookies. Our full Privacy Policy, which explains your data rights in detail, is available at lunaireworks.com/policies/privacy-policy.
Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) guidance
We follow the ICO's published guidance on cookies and similar technologies, including the ICO's Cookie guidance updated in 2024. This guidance makes clear that pre-ticked consent boxes are not valid, that cookie walls that block access unless users consent to all cookies are not compliant, and that consent must be as easy to withdraw as it is to give. We have implemented our cookie consent in line with these requirements. The ICO's full cookie guidance is available at ico.org.uk.
International data transfers
Some of the third-party services we use — including Shopify and Google — process data on servers located outside the UK (principally in the United States). Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by UK GDPR, including UK Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or equivalent transfer mechanisms. We review international transfer arrangements periodically and update them as guidance from the ICO evolves.
How long do cookies last?
Cookies expire at different times depending on what they do. Here is a summary of the categories and their typical lifetimes.
Cookies fall into two types by duration: session cookies, which expire automatically when you close your browser, and persistent cookies, which remain on your device until they either expire naturally or you delete them. The individual durations for every cookie we use are listed in the tables within each category section above. The summary below shows the range of durations across all categories.
| Cookie Category | Shortest Duration | Longest Duration | Consent Needed? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly Necessary | Session | 20 years (Shopify account persistence only) | No — automatic |
| Functional | 30 minutes | 1 year | Yes |
| Analytics & Performance | 1 minute | 2 years | Yes |
| Marketing & Advertising | 90 days | 13 months | Yes — opt-in only |
Do Not Track signals
Some browsers include a Do Not Track (DNT) setting that sends a signal to websites asking them not to track your activity. There is currently no agreed technical standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals in the UK or internationally, and Shopify — as the platform that powers our store — does not currently alter its cookie behaviour in response to DNT browser signals.
We recommend using the cookie consent options described in this policy and your browser's own cookie settings as the most reliable way to control tracking on lunaireworks.com, rather than relying on DNT signals alone.
Children & cookies
Our wall panelling products are designed and sold for home improvement use and are not directed at children. Our website is intended for adult consumers, homeowners, trade professionals, interior designers, and property landlords. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under the age of 13, and our marketing does not target children.
If you believe that a child has provided us with personal data without appropriate parental consent, please contact us at info@lunaireworks.com and we will delete the relevant data promptly.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
We keep this policy current and will update it when our cookie use changes.
We review this Cookie Policy regularly — at a minimum annually, and whenever a new cookie or third-party service is introduced to lunaireworks.com. When we make changes that materially affect how your data is handled, we will update the Last updated & effective date at the top of this page and, where required, present a revised consent banner so that you can review and re-confirm your preferences.
Minor amendments — such as correcting a typographical error, adding further explanatory text, or updating a third-party link — may be made without a specific notification. The current version of this policy is always available at lunaireworks.com/pages/cookie-policy.
If you continue to use our website after a material change to this policy, your continued use will constitute acceptance of the updated terms for strictly necessary cookies. For non-essential cookies, a new consent request will be presented to you where required.
